Brunch has hit the Athens Coast in full force!
For years brunch wasn’t really a thing here in Athens. If you wanted to go out for breakfast, you went to a local bakery or grabbed a cheese pie /τυρóπιτα from Everest.
“Sunday Funday” has been a part of my vocabulary for years, so I’m happy to see the hashtag being used at places near me!
The brunch hours here are a bit later than the traditional brunch (breakfast/lunch combo), but they include anything and everything you could desire on a lazy Sunday, from traditional breakfast items to burgers and steaks.
Some places have DJs on hand to add to the vibe.
Most places have special cocktail menus that they offer on the ‘day of rest’. So if you are going to do Sunday Funday right, don’t make plans for the evening and just enjoy a leisurely afternoon of food and drinks.
