Anchor Seaside Cafe in Saronida is personally one of my favorite spots in the summer because it has a swimming pool AND the beach option just across the road.
If you are looking to get out of Athens and want to go a bit farther out than the suburbs of Vouliagmeni and Varkiza – Saronida is your spot! Just a 25min drive from Glyfada and you definitely feel removed from the city life.
Anchor is a great all day destination for the family because you can split your time between the swimming pool, cafe and the beach!
*Instructions below of how to spend the perfect day at Anchor
I’m a pool person. Yes, I live in Greece and say that out loud. Shame on me, yeah yeah yeah…
I DO love a good swim in the sea, but then I like to rinse off and not have sand all up in my space. Any place with a pool and a beach is a winner in my book!
The cost is just 3 euros to use the pool for the day. Bargain!
Saronida Public Beach
The public beach is directly across the street from Anchor Seaside Cafe.
When you want to pop over to the beach, you take a few steps to the traffic lights, safely cross the street and you are in the water.
The water is crystal clear and the beach is sandy (as opposed to rocky as you commonly find in Greece).
It’s aesthetically a nice beach to swim at with rock formations off to both sides.
Seaside Cafe and Cocktails
Anchor offers a typical cafe menu with sandwiches, salads and pizza.
You can’t get anymore ‘Greek summer beach day’ than a club sandwich! Well for me anyway 😉
The cafe had a trendy make-over a few years back. Year round, it is a popular spot for locals to sit back, relax and enjoy a coffee or a cocktail.
Instructions for the perfect day in Saronida
Wake yourself up with a fresh dip in the sea and head across the street to get your coffee at Anchor.
Next get your sunbeds all sorted pool-side and get ready to lounge all day.
When it is Rosé-o-clock, head into the restaurant and grab some food and a little splash of vino (strictly to truly get the vacation vibes).
Now it is up to you… back to the pool or over to the sea? Decisions, decisions.
