The Athens metro is a good option if you are heading to Elliniko, Glyfada, Voula or Vouliagmeni. If you are heading to the Alimos, Faliro area, it’s easiest to just take the tram.
The Athens metro does not go to the beach, but it can get you close and then you can either take a bus or a taxi. The buses in Athens are not very tourist friendly, so taxis are a better option. To get to the coastal area, take the red line towards Elliniko (terminal station). When leaving the metro, follow signs that say ‘To Glyfada’. This station is located on Vouliagmeni Avenue and there is a cue of taxis waiting at the exit near the AB supermarket.
Taxi prices from Elliniko station to the beach areas of the south
Glyfada – 6.00 – 7.00 euro
Voula – 7.00 – 8.00 euro
Vouligmeni / Kavouri – 8.50 to 9.50
Varkiza – 12.50 – 14.00 euro
